Special Lecture by Director General, Hon'ble Mr. Justice Bhanwar Singh

I am directed to inform you that Hon’ble Mr. Justice Bhanwar Singh, Director General, will address the law students as indicated below:-


BA LLB and BBA LLB 4th Semester  and  BA LLB  6th Semester  students on  13.01.16 at 12 o’ clock and Second  Semester  Law students of BA LLB and  BBA LLB  on 18.01.16 at the same time on the following  subject :


‘Doctrine of Benefit of Doubt’



  1. Concept
  2. Risk of an innocent person being convicted, is to be borne in mind always.
  3. It is better for a guilty person to go unpunished than for an innocent one to be condemned.
  4. Twenty guilty men should escape death through mercy rather than one just man unjustly punished – Fortescue.
  5. A judge presides over a criminal trial to see that no innocent man is punished and also to ensure that a guilty man does not escape.
