A Blood Donation camp organised by BJMC V Semester students to support ‘National Thalassemia Welfare Society’
Delhi Metropolitan Education observed the National Voluntary Blood Donation Day with great fervor on October 3, 2015. As an initiative under the Community Connect Project, the blood donation camp was organised in the college premises to support the National Thalassemia Welfare Society (NTWS). The students of BJMC V Semester enthusiastically came forward to manage the event and convinced other students in the college to support this noble cause.
As a result of the voluntary participation from the students of Law, Management and Journalism, 83 units of blood were donated to the NTWS and the first donor was Mr. Aman Sahni (Vice-Chairman). Hon’ble Mr. Justice Bhanwar Singh (Director General) visited the camp to give his blessings to the donors.
The camp started at 10:00am which continued till 3:30pm. The faculty members also came to support this cause of serving the humanity. A team of eleven certified professional from NTWS and Deen Dayal Upadhaya hospital were present during the camp to ensure safety of the donors. Also, adequate supply of fruit juice, glucose biscuits, bananas was offered as refreshments along with a mug as a souvenir from NTWS was given to the donors.
Our aim was to reach 100 units of blood! The hospital technicians, not anticipating such a heavy turnout, ran short of capsules for blood collection.
