Continuing the tradition of providing an academically and culturally stimulating atmosphere, the two-day media fest of DME Media School, Vritika 2019 was organised on November 14-15, 2019 on the DME campus. The event lived up to the epithet of it being among the best Media Schools in the country.

The major highlight of the fest was the valedictory ceremony which was organised at the newly built amphitheatre of DME. It celebrated the true spirit of compassionate journalism, by honouring four eminent faces of the media world- Dr Sanjio Singh, News Editor- In-charge Market Mantra, News Services Division, All India Radio; Ms Peenaz Tyagi, Senior Anchor/Editor, News Nation; Ms Deepti Sachdeva, Senior broadcast journalist and Anchor and Mr Pradeep Tiwari, Assistant Editor, The Pioneer Hindi newspaper- with the prestigious ‘Ganesh Shanker Vidyarthi Award’ for Value-based Journalism for their contribution towards religious harmony and their relentless work for social causes.

While Mr Vipin Sahni, Chairman DME presented the award to Dr Sanjio Singh, Ms Kiran Sahni, Chairperson, DME honoured Ms Peenaz Tyagi. Hon’ble Mr Justice Bhanwar Singh, Director General, DME, presented the award to Mr Pradeep Tiwari.

Mr. Sanjio Singh, after receiving the award said, “I am very impressed by the theme #media4cause. It’s very important for the current scenario.” He further said, “Technology has brought the media forward, but it is the moral values that are really important to present valuable content to the community”. Other awardees too extended their gratitude and urged the young aspirants of journalism to make maximum use of college teaching for their career goals.

Mr Aman Sahni, Vice-Chairman, DME appreciated the efforts of DME Media School in his address and congratulated all the awardees.

Festival Director, Prof (Dr) Susmita Bala, appreciated the efforts of students in making the fest successful. Festival Advisor Prof (Dr) Ambrish Saxena, Dean, DME Media School, greeted the gathering and shared his intentions of broadening the horizons of the fest in the future. Dr Ravikant Swami, Director, DME, mentioned the importance of such functions in boosting the morale of achievers.

The occasion was electrified by cultural performances. Bhangra and Bollywood dance were performed with great zeal and energy.

Awards were distributed to winners from various competitions of Vritika 2019 that were held on November 14 and 15. The session concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms Manmeet Kaur, Assistant Professor, DME Media School.

WEB 2K19 – Welcome Esteemed Buddies

Senior students of DME Media School welcomed their younger companions by organising a formal function titled Welcome Esteemed Buddies – WEB 2K19 on 7th September, 2019 in the premises of Delhi Metropolitan Education (DME). Amidst a gathering of 340 students the seniors received their young buddies with open arms.

The WEB started with the lightening of lamp by Prof. (Dr.) Ambrish Saxena, Dean, Prof. (Dr.)Susmita Bala, Head and other faculty members of DME Media School. Dr. Susmita Bala addressed the students and asked them to work hard for creating a healthy and congenial atmosphere for learning.

Purvi Khanna and Siddhant Sharma of third year set the stage on fire by their dance performances. Group Dance performances and musical gala added fun element to the meet and entertained the audience. The balloon game gave a taste of fun competition to the audience.

The main attraction of the meet, for which all the esteemed buddies were excited was the title of Mr. and Ms. BJMC. The competition started with ramp walk and introductory session in which participants set the stage on fire with a ramp walk and further introduced themselves. In talent round of the competition, participants showed their talent to the audience. The last round was the question and answer round where the judges asked questions to participants. After all the rounds, the result was announced and Prakhar Pandey from 1B and Jessica Arora from 1A received the title of Mr. BJMC and Ms. BJMC respectively.

Ms. Manmeet Kaur, Assistant Professor, extended a vote of thanks to the management, faculty and students for the successful accomplishment of WEB2k19.

WEB2k19 was organised by the students of BA JMC V Semester C Section as part of Event Management Lab under the supervision of the subject teacher and mentor Ms. Sanchita Chakraborty.

Hindi Divas Celebration at DME Media School

The final year students of DME Media School organized Hindi Divas amidst huge participation of their juniors on September 12 and 13, 2019. The objective was to highlight the relevance of Hindi as a language of people.

The two-day celebrations had wide range of competitions like Vaad Vivad Pratiyogita, Radio Jingle, On-the Spot poetry and Just a Minute. The competitions attracted participation from the students of BA Journalism & Mass Communication, who impressed and enthralled the audience with their knowledge and wit.

The finale on September 13 was graced by Shri Lakshmi Shankar Bajpai, former Deputy Director General, All India Radio and a noted poet. The other personalities present on the occasion included Prof. Ravi Kant Swami, Director DME, Prof. Ambrish Saxena, Dean DME Media School, Prof.Susmita Bala, HoD, DME Media School, Dr Naresh Bahl, Dean, DME Law School along with media faculty.

The event was designed and conducted by the students of BA JMC Semester V, Section B aspart of Event Management Lab under the supervision of the subject teacher Ms Krishna Pandey.
