ICT @DME
DME is a Robust Digital Campus
At DME more and more technological intervention is being infused with the usual ways of teaching. ICT plays a vital role by making available knowledge resources to every learner at his/her convenience and just in time. ICT has tremendously upgraded the quality of education through various mechanisms like e–learning, online participative/collaborative learning, blended learning, and Software led Experiential Learning. DME adopted ICT-enabled teaching learning long before the pandemic came. It was a decision to enhance the overall student experience, make them well-connected, and reduce the response time.
Office 365 Tools: Students are taught MS. Excel and Advanced Excel for Data Analytics, MS. Power BI for Data Visualisation, MS. PowerPoint for Impactful Presentations, and MS. Word for Assignments and Project writing.
Google Suite Tools: Extensive use of Google Scholar for referencing, Google Slides for students’ collaborative group presentations, Google Drive to save large files like projects and dissertations, Google Forms to do surveys and collect information, Google spreadsheets to collaborate and share data, etc.
Online Courses: SWAYAM and NPTEL-led Massive Open Online Courses [MOOC] are very popular at DME and students are encouraged to undertake courses beyond the mentioned syllabus for skill and knowledge enhancement via online mode.
Open Education Resources (OER): These refer to openly licensed text, media, databases, and other digital assets which can be accessed free of cost. These include teaching, learning, and research material which can be accessed publicly at no cost and allows users to access and redistribute the material under some licenses.
Video Lectures: Faculty prepares video content which is uploaded on the ERP for students to view and revise the classroom teaching, especially helpful for the students absent due to medical or accident issues.
e-Resources: e-Course pack and e-Reference material is provided in all subjects which is uploaded on the portal and available for students to download and study the same without printing anything.
Academic ERP: DME uses CollPoll – ERP management that helps teachers to manage everything easily. From hosting live classes and marking attendance online to collecting/grading assignments and sending updates, everything is seamless with the ERP solution.
e-Quizzes/MCQ: Faculty conduct online quizzes and online MCQ tests after every unit completion of the respective subject. Students are given 15mins-30 min depending on the number of questions to solve the same online.
ICT Infrastructure: Use of LCD projectors for seminars and workshops, Lecture-based teaching, productive use of educational videos, and Smartboards in the classrooms
Software Education: Students are involved in learning the latest software like SPSS, Tableau, Power BI, Nvivo, etc. to analyze and interpretation of data, and synthesize the information to provide valid conclusions. Audio-Video editing and graphic software are taught to Media Students.
