On 26th November, 2019, a group of faculty members and student coordinators visited Bhartiya Vidya Bhawans Mehta Vidyalaya to create awareness around the menace of cyberbullying and its effects and impacts. Bhartiya Vidya Bhawans Mehta Vidyalaya, located in Kasturba Gandhi Marg, Copernicus Marg, New Delhi, is one of the first public schools established in post independence New Delhi.

The team led by Dr. Isha Jaswal, Head Research Cell, comprised of Ms. Shambhavi Mishra, Assistant Professor of Law, Ms. Upasna Singh, Assistant Professor of Law, and the student team: Ms. Tanisha Sharma, Ms. Shubham Sharma, Ms. Megha Mishra, Ms. Lalima Das and Ms. Preeti Dhoundhiyal of DME Law School.

The workshop was divided into two sessions where the first session comprised of 150 students of 9thstandard while the second session comprised of 150 students of 11th standard. Both the sessions were extremely interactive and it was quite a humbling down experience with the students of the school expressing their motivation to take up Law as their subject in their graduation years. The teachers also clarified many of their doubts around cyberbullying and usage of social media platforms by young children.

On 25th November, 2019, a group of faculty members and student coordinators visited Tagore Shiksha Niketan located in Mithapur Extension, Badarpur, New Delhi, to create awareness around the menace of cyberbullying, its effects and impacts.

The team led by Dr. Isha Jaswal, Head Research Cell, comprised of Ms. Shambhavi Mishra, Assistant Professor of Law and the student team: Ms. Tanisha Sharma, Ms. Shubham Sharma, Ms. Megha Mishra and Ms. Lalima Das.

The team addressed the audience of around 150 students of 8th, 9th and 10th standards. The students although were quite young to understand the gravity of their actions online, despite being extremely active on social media platforms, yet they were quite eager to share their experiences and problems with everyone. It was an enlightening experience even for the team members as they were able to comprehend the reach and influence of social media in the pre-adolescent children.

On 23rd November, 2019, a group of faculty members and student coordinators visited the Salwan Senior Secondary Girls’ School to create awareness around the menace of cyberbullying and its effects and impacts. Salwan Senior Secondary Girls’ School is situated in the Old Rajinder Nagar, New Delhi and is a prominent landmark in the nearby areas of Rajinder Nagar and Karol Bagh.

The team led by Dr. Isha Jaswal, Head Research Cell, comprised of Ms. Shambhavi Mishra, Assistant Professor of Law and the student team: Ms. Tanisha Sharma, Ms. Shreya Bhatnagar, Ms. Megha Mishra and Ms. Lalima Das.

The team addressed around 350 students of 9th, 10th and 11th standards in order to discuss with them the modern social evil of cyberbullying. It was a highly interactive session with a lot of students opening up and sharing their incidents of bullying. It created a space of dialogue between the teachers, who themselves have also been subjected to bullying offline as well as online, and the students to understand the idea of bullying.
